Your skin tells a lot about you. Someone who looks at your face can often tell if you haven't had enough rest, if you've been slacking on your diet, or if you moisturize regularly. Your skin can also tell someone a lot about your state of mind.

It's pretty obvious when you're embarrassed because your face will get flushed. That's not what I mean. I'm referring to life's problems that pile up, stress you out, and keep you from performing at your ultimate best. Long periods without good nutrition will make skin pale and flaky, while a lack of moisture in your body can make skin tight and pinched-looking. Late nights and stressful situations can cause breakouts, oily skin and a tired, harried appearance that can keep you from looking your best.

With our busy lifestyles, it's hard to imagine how we can sleep more, eat better and stay hydrated enough to keep life's problems from showing up on your face. Fortunately, you can easily combat some of these problems by carefully choosing quick ways to relax and rejuvenate your body that won't break the bank.

Natural skincare products containing essential oils will not only help to improve your skin's appearance, but they have a double-duty effect with their aromatherapy benefits. For example, lavender essential oil is beneficial for people with minor cuts, scrapes, rashes and mild sunburn. It is also great for relaxation, making lavender a useful tool for eliminating stress.

Another great essential oil for mood enhancement is clary sage. It helps to balance the skin's natural production of sebum, making it a suitable choice whether your skin is too oily or too dry. At the same time, clary sage is well known for its hormone balancing effects, eliminating the mood swings and cramping that often occur during your menstrual cycle.

When you are choosing skincare products with essential oils, look for ones that contain little to no fragrance so you receive the full benefit of the aromatherapy at work. Also check the labels for chemicals which may cause allergic reactions and thwart your efforts to clear up your skin. With the right products, you'll begin to feel better emotionally, your appearance will change for the better, and people will certainly take notice.

Waxing Pain -- Tips for Withstanding Waxing Discomfort

First, the bad news: waxing hurts. Think of it as having a large Band-Aid ripped off. How much it hurts is largely attributable to an individual's pain threshold. But, any way you slice it, pulling hairs out from the follicle smarts.

The good news is there are a lot of things you can do to minimize waxing discomfort.

The most important step is to find an experienced, well-trained waxer. A gifted professional will make the procedure as quick and painless as possible. They'll know tricks to keep you comfortable. If they do a lot of waxing they're also more likely to use better, more expensive products like Bombshell Wax which includes essential oils and buffering ingredients to make waxing faster, easier, safer and more comfortable. Seek referrals from friends who wax as this is no time to let your fingers do the walking in the Yellow Pages.

Now that you've found a reputable waxer and have made an appointment there are a few things you can and should do beforehand. Avoid caffeine, nicotine and sugar for at least two hours prior to treatment as these will increase your sensitivity. Consider taking aspirin, Tylenol, Advil or some other over-the-counter analgesic. Relax and reduce any sources of stress in your life. Try to schedule treatment when you're most likely to be relaxed. Give yourself time to get to your appointment. Some people find a pre-wax glass of wine or a cocktail helps them to relax and dulls the pain.

When you're in the room with your waxer communicate any fears or anxieties. Talking through the procedure often helps. Wear loose clothing and take off anything constricting or remotely discomfiting. Ask for a fan if it's stuffy or hot. Ask for more heat if it's chilly.

Now that you're ready to be waxed make sure your waxer applies pressure to or rubs the area that has just been waxed. A good waxer will know this without being told. In addition, there are lots of things you can do to take your mind away from any pain or discomfort your body might be experiencing. Nothing works for everybody but you might experiment with one or more of these techniques:

*Hold a towel or stuffed animal to squeeze

*Suck on mints or hard candy or chew gum

*Focus on why you're there and the end result of your efforts

*Use breathing and visualization (think Lamaze) strategies to disassociate yourself from the procedure and any discomfort

*Bring a friend for support and distracting chit chat

*Arrange for a foot massage or reflexology during treatment

Remember, the first waxing is always the most difficult. Consistent waxing of a body area will reduce the amount of hair that grows in that spot and will make remaining hairs easier to remove. Subsequent waxings will get progressively easier and less painful.

People can spend years searching for their perfect skin care solution. Finding the right products can be a constant struggle. Many offer quick fixes or cures for skin conditions. Most experts agree that a skin care solution regimen includes several basic steps. Cleaning your skin is an important first step to healthy skin. Finding a cleanser that fits your skin type is best. Toners are a more aggressive product while astringents are the strongest of all these types of products.

Moisturizing your skin is the third step in a skin care solution. Chilling your moisturizer in warm weather and warming the moisturizer in cool weather helps your skin to absorb the moisture more readily.

Another important part of a skin care solution is protecting your skin in extremely hot or cold climates. Extended sun exposure can lead to serious skin problems. A skin care solution can help ease the symptoms of various skin conditions. Dry skin, a common skin condition, can be caused by many factors. Dry skin can affect the entire body. Dry skin can be mild, moderate, or severe.

Finding the Right Products Will Help You Develop a Skin Care SolutionLotions, balms, sun protect ants, cleansers, moisturizers, and many other products exist to relieve and cure skin conditions. Readily available products can often relieve most mild cases of skin conditions. Living with dry skin or other skin conditions can be annoying and frustrating. Finding the right skin care solution may take some time and effort; however, the benefits of working on your skin's health far outweigh the difficulties in finding appropriate skin care products.

"There is a power of choice-
what we do today with our time,
information and habits reflects our tomorrow"

Did you swim in a sea or an ocean ? You could not forget these beautiful sensations of energy and revitalization after sea mineral bathing. Can you restore these feelings at your spa? Purchase mineral salts , dissolve a desired (?) amount in warm water and relax as if you were swimming in a sea?No undiscovered information? You can ask : what is a desired amount- a cup, two cups, 1 kg (2.2 pounds) or more? I would answer : "You should add at least 1 kg (2.2 pounds) per bath ". Let me specify why.

The salinity (salt concentration) of sea water is at least 3%. It means that 3 kg ( 6.6 pounds) of mineral salts should be added to a bath to simulate sea bathing. The primary principle of a bath is to disperse botanicals in the water matrix. Then these botanicals can be available for skin absorption. But regular salt formula hardly provides these benefits because of the skin's low absorption rate for minerals , dissolving mechanism and the body's salinity.

The mechanism of dissolving of ANY regular mineral salts in the water is the following: crystals of salts are dissociated to many ions and these ions are covered by water molecules. These hydrated ions in water have a decreased level of energy and activity for proper absorption and assimilation through the skin.

I have been searching and studying for many years a lot of clinical studies of efficiency of mineral salt treatments. Results differ, efficiency differs, methods differ, salt types differ. But ONE common figure I did find is that for therapeutic treatment purposes scientists use at least 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of ANY regular mineral salts.

The minimum figure of 1(one) kg is originated from the fact that our body salinity (healthy blood plasma) is about 0.9% (salt equivalent of 900 g or 2 pounds per bath).

So, at least 1 kg (2.2 pounds) of REGULAR salts is required to support proper mineral absorption and assimilation through the skin to nourish and re-mineralize the skin and the body with deficient micro- and macro-elements. And water therapy professionals know this figure very well. More often medical spas, clinics and health resorts can use for therapeutic purposes 2 kg (4.4 pounds) , 4 kg (8.8 pounds) or more salts per bath!

For relaxing, balancing and other wellness purposes a less amount of mineral salts can be used. But you should understand that the main effect of 250-500 grams (one -two cups of ANY regular salts) per bath is more a skin's stimulating effect than a real nourishing effect.

That is why the only recommendation for REGULAR mineral salt bathing can be :"The more salts the better".

The more salts are added the better?. Nothing can be changed?.Hmm.

The more salts are added the better? Hard bathing?

No new ideas?

This old dogma can be doubted and new approaches, scientific ideas and technology are discovered to create a NEW generation of bath products for Smart Bathing!

You may be amazed to discover that some of the common ingredients found in everyday personal care products are known to be potential carcinogens. Read the warning labels!

It has been a widely held belief that our skin protects us, like a barrier, against potentially harmful chemicals that we would not ordinarily eat or drink. At the same time, medical science has found a much more efficient delivery system for pharmaceutical products in "the patch," which is now used for everything from weight loss to smoking cessation to insulin.

Obviously, the skin is not as "solid" as we had imagined.

So we read the list of ingredients on the shampoo label, and we find things like propylene glycol, and sodium laurel (or laureth) sulfate. In the chemical world, these are industrial antifreeze and engine degreaser. On top of our skin, they are irritants. Inside our bodies, they are free radicals and cellular mutagens.

Sodium laurel sulfate is used because it is cheap, it creates mountains of foamy suds, and when salt is added it thickens up into that "rich" consistency we have been taught to expect and even admire. However, sodium laurel sulfate has been documented (see the Wall Street Journal, 11-1-88) to cause improper eye development in children, and cataracts in all ages; penetration into the brain, heart, and liver; nitrate absorption equal to eating an entire pound of bacon! (Nitrates are known carcinogens.) Yet, almost 20 years later, this ingredient is still found in nearly every cleansing product on the market.

By the way, the salt (yes, regular table salt) that is added to thicken it up is extremely drying to the skin.

SLS stays in the body and brain for five days. So if you wash your hair more often than once a week, you have a constant level of this chemical in your eyes, brain, organs, body, at all times. SLS is found in baby shampoos and body wash and toothpaste, including many so-called "natural" brands. Read the labels for yourself!

Propylene glycol is found in many beauty creams, cleansers, and makeup, as well as children's products, such as baby wipes. A clinical review published in 1991 by the America Academy of Dermatologists, Inc., showed that propylene glycol has been found to cause contact dermatitis (skin irritation), kidney damage, and liver abnormalities; it inhibits skin cell growth and damages cell membranes.

Propylene glycol is used because it is cheap and available. Its purpose in personal care products is to retain moisture content: for example, it keeps shaving cream from drying out. It works by drawing moisture to itself, either from the surrounding air (in high humidity) or, once applied to the body, from the lower layers of skin. So although it gives a surface feel of moistness, it is in reality drying the skin from the inside out.

Propylene glycol is used in the production of varnishes; the Material Safety Data Sheet states that through skin contact it causes liver and kidney damage. Is it in your body lotion? Read the labels!

Other ingredients of concern include coal tar, a known carcinogen used in shampoos to prevent scalp itching; PEG and nitrosamines which are both easily absorbed and are known carcinogens; PAH in petrolatum (petroleum jelly) which is a probable carcinogen; ethylene oxide which is usually found with PEG and is a probable carcinogen.

There are actually over 10,500 ingredients available for use in cosmetics and personal care products, and nearly 90% of them have NOT been evaluated for safety by the FDA or other governmental groups. Independent research has uncovered substantial data in the area of harmful ingredients and toxins, and some of the research goes back to the Cold War when Russia was looking for a way to "subdue" America for an easy takeover (the chemical to be used was fluoride).

So, what is a person to do? As the public is growing in awareness of the problem, thanks to more and more news articles (such as the June 2005 issue of Vegetarian Times mention of MIT (linked to nerve damage in lab tests) in some hair care products), a few health conscious companies are going to become very well known in the near future. Some of the companies specialize in a certain few products, mostly cosmetics and skin care, but only one has the broad range including skin care, cosmetics, dental, hair, household, pets, plants, as well as nutritional supplements of all types: antioxidants, Noni, trace minerals, weight loss, muscle building, anti-aging, and more.

Just because you have Gray hair doesn't mean you should use any old shampoo. When your hair goes Gray it's a sign that it needs special treatment as the vital nutrients that produce the pigment for your hair color are now no longer as healthy as they use to be.

So what should you look for in a shampoo when deciding on the best treatment for your hair? Gray hair will usually be dry so you need a shampoo that will bring back the moisture in your hair as well as replace the vital nutrients that are lacking. There are many shampoos on the market that treat thinning, dry, brittle and oily hair; however there are not many that claim to treat gray hair.

If you are looking for a shampoo that is going to treat your Gray hair as well as return your hair to its natural color or at least darken it to some degree then you need to have a very specific shampoo. Do not go for a shampoo that promises to bring back your natural hair color in one or two washed as this means that the shampoo contains a lot of dye and will do nothing for the condition of your hair. Most people want a shampoo that will gradually change the color of their hair over time so that it is not too noticeable or immediately obvious.

When our hair goes gray it is because the cells in our hair follicles called "Melanocytes", stop producing pigment and the result is a transparent hair. The transparent hair against your healthier darker hair gives the appearance of Gray hair. In reality the hair is not Gray but transparent. When we reach this stage its because our hair is no longer as healthy as it use to be so we need to treat it in such a way that we replace what it has lost. Although we have mentioned the main cause of the hair going Gray it is also important to remember that the lack of nutrients such as B12 and Omegas 3's are major contributors of hair going Gray.

So to treat your Gray hair you need to replace these 2 ingredients. B12 can be taken in tablet form but the Omega 3's can be found in some shampoos. The way it works is that the Omega 3 rich shampoo penetrates deep into the hair follicle to deliver unprecedented nutrition to keep the hair follicle in its original color. The oil contained in the shampoo is known as the follicle awakener and has been used by many to help prevent the onset of gray hair. Every hair must have omega 3's to grow properly.

There are products on the market that have these attributes so there is a solution to treating your Gray hair. Whether you want to get your hair color back or just look after your hair the way it is then you need the right shampoo. So make sure the shampoo you choose has these ingredients in them. Just because you have Gray hair doesn't mean it shouldn't look good.

Millions of people suffer from acne in the United States alone, and many of these acne suffers use Benzoyl Peroxide as the acne treatment medication of choice.

It is generally safe, has very few side effects, and it has been proven to be the most effective over the counter acne treatment.

However, there are many more people who have more severe, or particularly resilient acne that is not susceptible to over the counter medications such as Benzoyl Peroxide.

Some of the most effective acne medications are available via prescription only. However, these are truly the "heavy guns" in the fight against acne, and are well worth looking into for anyone who has chronic or severe acne breakouts.

The most commonly prescribed acne medications are antibiotics such as Erythromycin and Trimethroprim. These are generally more effective than over the counter treatments because they work by treating the source of acne, the acne causing p.bacteria. Many acne sufferers find antibiotics work well for them in treating acne, and have fewer breakouts because of them.

However, one of the big drawbacks from using antibiotics is developing an immunity to them. This means that over time, the antibiotics are less effective in treating not only acne, but any form of bacterial infection including diseases such as strep throat and even some STD's. This should be considered before undergoing an antibiotic regime to treat acne.

Another alternative is Retin A. Retin A is a topical acne treatment, and a derivative of Vitamin A. Although the exact mechanism is unknown, Retin A has been proven to be effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne and some acne scarring. Retin A is generally more effective in treating acne than antibiotics.

However, Retin A is not without side effects either. The skin becomes more sensitive to the sun, and exposure to the sun can be very damaging. Also, people with sensitive skin or a skin disorder such as eczema can experience severe redness, skin flaking, and irritation. In spite of this, most people who use Retin A find they are satisfied with the results, and don't find the side effects overwhelming.

The most effective acne treatment currently available is Accutane. Accutane is also a derivative of Vitamin A, and is taken orally. It has been referred to as the acne "wonder drug", and for good reason. The majority of people who complete a 15-20 week session experience greatly reduced acne for years, and some never again have acne.

Accutane works by stopping sebum production in the skin. With no sebum, the acne causing p.bacteria do not have any way to grow. This results in clear skin, sometimes for life.

However, Accutane is not without side effects. The most severe are birth defects and mental disorders, such as psychosis and suicide. Dry skin, severe headaches, and hair loss are also common side effects. Though accutane is the most effective acne medication, it should only be used as a last resort, under close medical supervision.

Though there are other medications that are more effective than benzoyl peroxide, these are the most commonly prescribed, and are all worth consideration if one is experiencing severe acne. As always, a medical doctor should be consulted before trying any medication.

We can't stop time from marching on, but we can stop it from marching all over us, or can encourage it to march with lighter steps at least. With anti-aging treatments, the progress of aging will slow to the extent that you will feel younger and look younger. Can you handle that?

The Years Take Their Toll

As we age, our blood no longer circulates as quickly or as well, and our skin dehydrates; the production of collagen slows and our skin becomes less elastic. Years of exposure to the sun and harsh elements helps create lines, wrinkles, spots, and broken blood vessels; hormones production decreases with time and skin becomes thinner and duller, and pores enlarge. The pull of gravity causes aging skin to droop around the mouth and eyes, and the chin begins to sag. We produce fewer melanocytes as we grow older, which means our skin pigmentation changes, and skin color fades or becomes blotchy. Our bodies become less flexible and we become stiff and less active.

Start Anti Aging Treatments from the Inside

A balanced diet helps us receive the nutrition necessary for good health, which is reflected in thicker, shinier hair, clearer, healthier skin, and increased energy, all of which helps us look and feel younger. Choose foods from all the food groups to ensure that you are receiving at least minimum amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals necessary for good health. We have an increased need for particular nutritional elements as we age and at various stages in life, and when we have specific health concerns. We also know that soil in which fruits and vegetables are grown is often depleted in nutrients, and more nutrients are lost in food processing, handling, and cooking. Fortunately, this doesn't mean you have to find a plot of land and grow your own produce, nor do you have to chew your way through raw food every day, and, yes, you can treat yourself to fast food and processed food now and then. The solution is to take anti aging supplements.

Your primary anti aging supplement should be a multivitamin, and you can add individual supplements as needed. Choose a multivitamin formulation suitable for your age and sex that includes an antioxidant or two, such as vitamins C and E, to protect your skin and vital organs from free radicals. B vitamins are important for healthy hair, skin, and gums; calcium and magnesium protect against osteoporosis; and vitamin A against cancer, stroke, and heart disease. Since collagen is the cellular glue in the fibers that support the outer layer of skin, as well as the main protein in bones, cartilage and connective tissue, adding a collagen supplement makes a lot of sense, too. For best results, take your supplements with meals as they work synergistically with other nutrients.

Don't forget the importance of water. Drink it ? lots of it ? at least eight glasses a day.

Exercise is one of the most important elements in your arsenal of daily anti aging treatments. Get out of that chair, tear yourself away from the television set and start moving. Walking is an easy and beneficial form of exercise, and doesn't require any special clothing or equipment. Go for it!

Cleanse and Moisturize Skin with Anti Aging Skin Care Products

Anti aging skin care products include cleansers and exfoliates that will help keep your skin scrupulously clean. Gently remove your eye makeup and then your face makeup with an oil-based cream or milk lotion before washing your face. Forget the harsh soaps and cleansers and the hot water. Use lukewarm water on your face and pat your skin dry rather than rub it. For extra-deep cleansing, use an exfoliate or a cleansing mask weekly, or if your skin is very sensitive, monthly.

After cleansing, use a toner or a skin firming product and then apply a moisturizer of which there are two types. One is the group of humecants such as glycerin, sorbitol, lactic acid, and urea, which attract and hold moisture; the other is the family of emollients such as petroleum jelly, lanolin, and mineral oil that form barriers to seal in moisture. Both are effective, and you will have to experiment to discover which type you prefer and works best for you. Use a light, easily absorbed moisturizer during the day, and apply a heavier moisturizer at night.

You can find cleansers, toners, and moisturizers designed for oily, dry, and combination skin. Over-active oil glands can cause acne to erupt at various ages, and your skin will become drier with age. Select skin care products suitable for your skin type.

As well as a toner and the essential moisturizer, you can find anti aging products designed specifically to lighten age spots, to protect the tender skin under the eyes, to treat dry lips, and to manage acne and blemishes. If you would like to reduce wrinkles, alpha hydroxy acids and Retin A are the modern miracle treatments and they can be prescribed by your doctor.

Whatever cleansing, moisturizing, or problem-solving skincare products you use, if you forget your sunscreen, it is all a waste of money and effort. Skin has no greater enemy than the sun ? protect it well from those harmful rays. Use a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 15, and slap it on summer and winter, on sunny days and under heavy cloud cover. Those damaging rays can reach right through the clouds and find your unprotected skin. Don't forget to put sunscreen on your lips, too.

Choose Anti Aging Products When Buying Makeup

People use makeup to enhance their best features and to conceal flaws, such as blemishes and scars. If you wear makeup, choose products compatible with your anti aging treatments. There are cosmetics designed for people with blonde, brunette, red, or gray hair, and skin tones that range from very pale to black. Many are created specifically for oily, dry, and combination skin. Read labels and shop carefully to receive the benefits of these particular anti aging treatments. Their use will help you look younger and help protect your skin. There is makeup for long-term use and for emergency fix-ups. It is wonderful to have products on hand that will conceal under-eye dark circles or puffiness, as well as pimples and broken capillaries when these misfortunes strike.

Anti Aging Treatments Are Simple to Implement:

? Eat balanced meals and drink lots of water

? Add supplements to your diet

? Exercise

? Cleanse, moisturize, and protect your skin

? Choose makeup that reinforces your anti aging treatments

When you look good, your confidence soars and you feel better about yourself. Anti aging treatments are easy to implement at a very reasonable cost. You can buy all the products you need on the Internet usually at a discount price. Compare costs online, order what you need, and have everything delivered to your home. Amaze yourself and others. Look younger and feel better. You can do it!

There are many poets who have written about the power of the smile. A simple smile can turn a bad situation into a more manageable situation. Smile has the power to throw even the bullies off balance; such is the power of a good clean smile. Let me add, a good clean smile with a brighter teeth to support. How often have we seen in movies and television the stars sparkle because of that charming smile with those white sparkling tooth. Many have never thought about the idea of they too can have that smile, with the whiter teeth. Well there is help now a days, there are many great products out there that can whiten your teeth and bring them back to their natural shade at the minimum. You don't have to go to the dentist for the bleaching process; just at the comfort of your home you can administer the process without much fuss and mess. You can do this even under a tight budget with very little money shelled out from your pocket.

The first and foremost to understand is that not everyone's tooth is alike. Each person has a unique shade that can be matched to one of the many standard one. This is the first and foremost to really understand before setting up realistic goals. The first thing these products provide is remove the stains from the tooth. As years pass by the exposure to many staining substances cause the tooth to loose it original color, and without proper treatment they are not going to go off. The popular drinks like coffee, tea, coke and other such soft drinks as well as red wine contribute substantially to the staining. There are many more factors that could cause this. The teeth whitening products contain carbamide peroxide as the active ingredient that does this trick of bleaching off the stains. This is an ADA approved ingredient in most of the products out there; a few also use hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient. The oxidation induced by the products helps to take care of the stains and brings back the natural shade to begin with. The whitening process is not effective against the crowns or other dental work performed on the tooth. So you should apply the dental whitening as long as needed and then go back to your dentist for a replacement with a suitable shade crown or add-ons. Generally the whitening process can show results in just a few applications and you can continue up until the desired shade is obtained. Then you can stop the application. There is a flip flop period after this as the shading becomes a little dull and the a little brighter and it stabilize at a particular shade. This is usually much brighter than the one you started out with. Don't worry this is usual and you have to wait for the shade to set in before going to the doctor to get your replacement crowns.

The price factor is one big thing that you need to consider, almost all products including the dental bleaching procedures employ the same active ingredients and you have to choose the product that can save money on top of the same effect. You should buy the OTC products that are either certified or developed by certified Dental Labs. Some products have a unique formula - pH balanced with high adhesion qualities designed to stay on tooth surface. These are some of the factors to consider while choosing to get that catchy, bright white smile you have always dreamt of.

Our skin is a two way membrane. During perspiration toxins are eliminated from our body through it. Recently scientists have found that some chemicals when applied to the skin can penetrate the body and be absorbed by the body in significant amounts. Many personal care products contain chemicals which are considered hazardous by EPA. National Institute of Occupational safety and health found 884 chemicals used in personal care products and cosmetics are known to be toxins. The numbers of products used by adults and children that contain potent carcinogens are very high. It was reported recently that 500 dangerous chemicals have been found on a single fat cell in a healthy looking British woman. Another report was of 350 man made chemicals and residues used in personal care products found in breast milk.

Ammonia derivative DEA-Diethanolamine,TEA- Triethanolamine and MEA-Monoethanolamine when combined with products containing preservative nitrates form notrosamines which are carcinogenic. FDA urged the companies to remove them from shelves but even now almost 37% if products tested contained nitrosamines.

If Alcohol content in mouthwash rises to more than 25% it is known to cause mouth, tongue and throat ulcer.

FD&C or D&C color pigments are from coal tar and are carcinogenic.

Mineral oil made from petroleum ingredient found in baby oil and skin care can hinder skin respiration and can age skin prematurely. Baby oil is almost 100% mineral oil.

Phthalates exposure through hair mousse and hair spray can cause genital abnormality. It can be absorbed into the body through skin and also through inhalation.

Propylene glycol used in hair conditioners deodorants cosmetics baby products body lotions skin care and tooth pastes and even added to human and pet food can cause eye irritation, skin irritation, headaches and nausea.

Scientist recently found paraben in breast cancer tissue. It is used as a preservative and is considered to increase oestrogen levels in women and can drive the growth of breast tumors.

Methylisothiazolinone ?M.I.T found in anti microbial soap, shampoo and other personal care products can cause nerve damage. It is chemically identical to Agent Orange used in Vietnam War.

SLS- Sodium laureth sulphate found in shampoos, toothpaste, gels, and cleaners used as a foaming agent can cause permanent impairment of eyes and corrodes hair follicles and impairs the ability to grow hair.

These are some of the harmful chemicals added to our personal care products. There are much more chemicals added to these products and scientists are discovering more chemicals to be harmful. Even many of the so called natural and organic products have these harmful chemicals added to them. Try to use chemical free and organic products.

I enjoy pretty scents, don't you? I love working with fragrance so much that I make my own scented lotions, facial scrubs, massage oils, room sprays and more, using essential oils and the proper unscented carrier. My tastes have always run to the sweet floral aromas of jasmine, ylang ylang, rose, lavender, neroli and combining them with the citrus tones of orange, bergamot, lemongrass, lemon, lime and grapefruit. Add a touch of sandalwood and you've got a blend of fragrance that will melt any stress and take you to a tropical island all in one whiff.

Essential oils aren't just pretty smells. These concentrated oils are magic in a little bottle. It has been scientifically proven that oils will either be stimulating or relaxing and they will have that effect on your body. Have you ever taken a good whiff of pure peppermint oil? There is nothing relaxing about it. Your senses are immediately awakened and your eyes open wider. It's refreshing and bright. That is how all of the scents work their magic; one way or the other. Since there are so many therapeutic benefits to using these oils, I love experimenting with them for dry skin. I am definitely getting older and my skin is getting dryer so something needs to be done, and quickly. I am a blue eyed blond so my skin is also sun damaged and needs to be cared for. I combine 2-3 drops of rose, geranium, palmarosa and lavender essential oils with plain an unscented carrier oil such as sweet almond, apricot kernel, avocado, coconut, grapeseed, or rose hip seed oils. I use this mixture lightly as a moisturizer at night. When I want to exfoliate my skin, I make a mask of honey, clay, cornstarch, and 1 egg yolk combined with a few drops of rose, lavender and sandalwood. I put it on my skin for 15 minutes and rinse off with cool water. Rose has been known to help aid in healing damaged skin from radiation and lavender has been used to helping skin recover from burns. These are only a few of the therapeutic uses for essential oils.

Your face doesn't have to be the only thing that benefits from these delightful oils. Consider massage lotions or oils for use after exercising, sports or de-stressing. You can even give your pets or your baby a massage using oils specifically for them. Make sure you find out more information before using essential oils on children or while pregnant.

Since summer is fun in the sun time, don't make the skin suffer by overdoing it in the sun. Sunburn is painful and over time it can really damage your skin. If you have suffered a small sunburn on your body, you might consider using lavender or tea tree oils neat from the bottle on the burn. If your body is pretty much crispy fried, you might consider using an unscented lotion with a few drops of lavender, chamomile or tea tree and gently dab it on the burned area. Later, use calendula oil with a few drops of rose or chamomile, neroli or lavender to help the burn to heal.

If making your own concoctions sounds too difficult, just take a few drops of your favorite scent and put it in your bath water. Make sure it is one of the relaxing oils if you are taking a bath before you go to bed. For relaxation use: lavender, clary sage, marjoram sweet, rose otto, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, rose, vanilla, ylang ylang, vetiver, jasmine, bergamot or any of the camomiles. If you want to wake up before you go to work, use one of the stimulating scents: basil, cypress, juniper berry, lemon, lemongrass, myrrh, orange, peppermint, rosemary, tea tree, geranium, ginger, fennel, grapefruit, lime, thyme. If you want to fall asleep to your favorite scent, put a few drops on a cloth and place it by your pillow. Don't put it on the pillowcase itself because it might stain. Lavender is especially good for sleeping. If you choose to try scents for relaxing or for stimulation, make sure you buy the real deal. Read labels carefully because many companies have tried to get on the alternative, natural bandwagon and list their products as "all Natural" when they really aren't. Make sure the essential oils you are buying are 100% pure extract of the plant. Synthetic products have little to no effect on your senses and you won't achieve the desired results.

Aging is inevitable, but a healthy lifestyle combined with some fragrances can help you slow the signs of time from your skin.
